Posted 01/27/12 With the weather finally improving their are some good opportunities for fishing this weekend.  If you want to do some freshwater fishing, Lake Goodwin has been excellent for Rainbow Trout to 21".

I have heard from several anglers that Steamboat Slough has been more than good for Sturgeon.  Sturgeon is an all weather fishery because the slough never gets too rough to fish.   Go to the search function of my web site and type in "Sturgeon" for a fishing map and all kinds of "How To" fish for Sturgeon.

Out on the saltwater; Columbia Beach has been one of the better spots for Chinook.  Go to the search function of my web site and type in "Columbia Beach" for a fishing map.  I would suggest going to Useless Bay because it has not been fished since it opened.  This report just came in while I was typing this: Useless Bay, Possession and Browns Bay were all good on Friday (01/27/12).  The Chinook were averaging just 5-8lbs.

In the San Juan's; Lopez Flats has been one of the better places to fish for Chinook.  Chinook have been running 6-12lbs in this area.  Once again. go to the search function of my web site to look for Lopez Flats information.

The Cowlitz River was good on Friday.  Les Jacober and friends landed four steelhead by 1PM.

Fish Lake near Lake Wenatchee has 13" of ice on the lake.  This is an excellent place to fish for Rainbows and Perch in January and February.
