Posted 05/14/12 Fishing continues to be good for Halibut on the Banks. Hein Bank being the most productive. I think this proves that the good fishing opening day was not a flash in the pan. Shrimping is open everyday of the week in Area 6. The south end of Partridge Bank and Eastern Bank have been outstanding for Spot Shrimp! I will be there Wednesday, I will give you an update. Please see all the fish pics that have been coming. I am posting them on my Facebook: Click Here
Thursday on my Facebook is "Big Fish Thursday" and Friday is "Deal of the Day". Check it out on those days.
Posted 05/07/12 Fishing was generally good for both Shrimp and Halibut. I think it would be safe to say that Halibut had one of the best opening days ever. If there was a better one, I certainly don’t remember it. Partridge, Eastern and Hein Banks put out a boat load of fish. It was common to hear reports of anglers having 2-3 Halibut per boat. Mutiny Bay and Admiralty Bay put out the normal amount of fish that I would expect. Admiralty was definitely the best fishing between the two. Click Here for Halibut pics on my Facebook
Shrimping was quite good depending on where you were. My #1 recommended area (Browns Bay) held up to it’s reputation. Limits of shrimp were the rule of thumb for those who had their pots well weighted and had lots of flotation. Possession Bar was also very good. Surprisingly, the area near the Mukilteo Oil Docks put out limits of Spot Shrimp. Shrimp opens in Puget Sound again on the 11th. Click Here for Shrimp rules and dates.
Here are two emails that I received today:
John, I would like to thank you for all the fishing techniques that I learned from your book and the Halibut seminar you had recently. I moved here from Ohio and the opening day of halibut season was the first time I ever launched my boat out here and fished in the Sound. I took all your advice and fished exactly where you said and used exactly what you said to use for tackle and we ended up landing two halibut.
Thanks again,
Brian
I wish to thank you John for all the great information and equipment for shrimping. I had never done it before but on Saturday I took a friend with the equipment and bait you sold me and we limited! Not bad for a newbie. I live on Hood Canal and go to your shop twice a year for the latest information and equipment. Thank you again, and your videos are great. I had no problem with the extreme tide current with your advice but a few of my friends lost pots due to the tides. I forgot to tell them to read your latest newsletter. Hope your trip for the graduation was a good one. I will be in again for more stuff.
Thank you, Doug

Posted 05/01/12 I fished with Gary Krein today (All Star Charters). I was with my good friends, Les, Trey, and Jenny. We boated four nice Lind Cod by10:40am. We were using live Sole that we caught on the east side of Hat Island. Gary has spots available in the next few days including this weekend to go Ling Cod fishing. I highly recommend Gary. He is a personal friend and I regard him as one of the best saltwater anglers in thePuget Sound area. Contact Gary:425-252-4188 or click here to go to his web site.
